British firm Hadrill & Horstmann created some of the most memorable and innovative lamps and lighting solutions of the 20th century.
Not about the follow the trend of the spring loaded anglepoise lamp designed by George Carwardine for Herbert Terry in the 1930s, Hardrill and Horstmann instead opted to create a barrel weighted counterbalance mechanism, creating an elegant lamp that helped immortalise the designers far beyond the standard offerings that came before them.
These lamps have affectionately and appropriately become known as 'Rollers', with a seamless fluid movement these lamps are just as satisfying to move as they are to look at.
In general good condition with the usual wear commensurate with age, including some marks, chipping and scratching to the paintwork along with some light dints here and there. It appears that someone has touched up the paint work to the base neck at some point as it is a little rough.
The lamp has been fully rewired with approximately 170cm of 3 core twisted emerald green nylon flex along with a new chrome lamp holder (standard B22 bulb) and 3 pin UK plug.
Due to the many adjustable positions of the lamp, it's quite a tricky one to measure but here's a few approximate measurements, feel free to get in touch should you require any more. At the tallest point with everything standing to attention/upright, the light measures 89cm while the base of the lamp measures 15cm square. Finally, the cone measures 16.6cm long with a diameter of 16.5cm.
All of our prices include VAT, please get it touch if you require a VAT receipt.
