White and Newton of Portsmouth were on the cutting edge of furniture design and production in Britain throughout the mid 20th century. Under the design direction of Arthur Edwards, the firm produced stunning high end furniture often defined by its clean modern lines and stark linear form.
White and Newton furniture was a hit with trendsetters of the day and today alike, the timeless designs still remaining fashionable and contemporary 70 years on.
This stunning sideboard circa 1950s is an absolute beauty, small and modest in design but brimming with style and charm. The tall tapered legs, routed cupboard and drawer fronts, along with sleek brass handles only enhancing this further.
When we purchased the cabinet it was in a rather sorry and unattractive state. The rosewood top was heavily stained, faded, dry and dull. As a result the cabinet has been fully restored and we're sure you'll agree it looks beautiful once more. That being said there are still some minor signs of previous life that couldn't be removed and are simply commensurate with age and wear.
Measures approximately 127cm long, 46cm deep and 75cm tall.
