As sideboards go, this has to be one of the best to come through the doors at Absolutely Nice.
Designed in 1968 by one of Denmark’s best known designers, Johannes Andersen and produced by the German workshop Hans Bech. This particular sideboard was sold out of a Chapmans store who had traded in the North East and West of the UK for over 160 years until they closed for good in 2012.
Chapman was a name locals associated with both high quality design and the firm would often remove maker's marks/labels and sell the items under their own 'Siesta' brand/range.
An absolutely stunning sideboard of the highest quality, this particular model labelled the HB20 was a highly successful product at the top end of the retail market, and it's not hard to see why.
As well as being incredibly stylish with beautiful detailing and curved lower legs, it is practical and multi-purpose too with four drawers and and four cupboards, one of which features a further three inner drawers.
The sideboard has been fully stripped and refinished to balance out the lovely, rich colours of the teak wood. It most likely only had one owner from new and there are still traces of its previous life including the odd knock and scuff along with an ink stain in one drawer, a ring mark on an inner shelf and some marks to the green felt. None of which however detracts from the stunning overall appearance of this piece.
Measures approximately 240cm long, 50cm deep and 86cm tall.
