Famous for their bold use of colours and interesting and striking glazing techniques these ceramic West German vases / pots are perfect for adding a mid-century modern feel to your home.
By the early 1960s the West German factories started to experiment heavily with the decorative effects of glazes. This experimentation was mainly with the use of mostly drip glazes, with one glaze running over another, usually in a contrasting colour or a different thickness, resulting in a lava-like effect. However it was the 1970s that saw a true expression in experimentation and innovation with pots of all types, from floor vases to miniature bowls, made in bizarre shapes and covered in all kinds of dazzling colours and patterns.
This particular pot was designed by Heinz Siery for Scheurich, named the Pagoda vase, due to its ribbed shape.
Although they started late, Scheurich produced more items from the 1960s through to the 1980s than any of the other art pottery companies. As usual, high production numbers meant a wide range of quality and quality control, but some items, especially their glazes were and still are major achievements.

In general good condition with wear commensurate with age. Measures approximately 24.5cm tall, 14.5cm wide and 14.5cm deep.
