Vintage Rattan Coolie Hat

These beautiful conical Coolie hats are, throughout Asia, primarily used as a form of protection from the sun and rain. When made of straw or other woven materials, it can be dipped in water and worn as an impromptu evaporative cooling device.
This particular hat is made from rattan and paper and is not only lovely when worn, but also a great piece of decorative art.
In general good condition with wear commensurate with age, including some fraying to the rattan, stains, marks and some small holes to the paper lining, as photographed.
Measures approximately 45.5cm in diameter and 20cm tall.
