This striking illustration is made all the more intriguing by the lack of information we can find about its artist or origin.
From an extensive online search we have found that other sizes have been produced of this image however, this one remains one of the biggest. It also seems that this one is the only one we have found that features three colours as opposed to just two, with the addition of a rusty red / brown colour here.
Judging by the holes within the simple wooden frame, it is possible that this picture was once hung on a school or library wall. The artistic style is very typical of 1970s children’s book illustrations and would look lovely in any child’s bedroom or nursery.
It seems the mystery surrounding this artwork simply adds to its intrigue and appeal.
