The iconic British furniture brand 'Ercol' is not only notorious for its blend of quality craftsmanship but for its stylish designs also. Since 1920, this family business has produced hand-crafted furniture that has certainly stood the test of time, and has become more than just a household name. Ercol is one of the few leading British post-war furniture manufacturers still in operation today.
Renowned for their innovation, Ercol have been continually celebrated for their pioneering approach to furniture making and were market leaders for many of their most famous features and materials.
This lovely oval drop leaf dining table is an iconic design from the Ercol Archive, originally introduced circa 1950s, from the Windsor range. The top is constructed from solid Elm and the legs in contrasting Beech. The leaves when up are supported by metal rods of great strength and is designed when open to sit up to six people.
The table came to us in a rather sad state, with marks, fading and variations in colour. We have fully stripped, sanded and refinished the table and it is now looking absolutely beautiful once again. As always, even though fully restored there are areas of wear that are simply commensurate with age and cannot be fully gotten rid of. The grain is quite open around the edges as can be seen from the photographs.
Featuring the Ercol gold label and dating from the 1980s when open the table measures approximately 125cm wide, 114cm deep, 72cm tall with an under table height of 69.5cm. When dropped the table measures approximately 62cm wide.
