In 1953, Donald Gomme, a designer at E Gomme, decided to produce a range of modern furniture for the entire house which could be bought piece by piece according to budgets. After WWll there was a huge demand for more modern furniture and none more popular than the G-Plan brand. Each piece could be customised with a choice of alternative top drawer filaments and whether pieces came with mirrors or not. Designs were available for several years so people could collect them slowly, with all furniture marked with the distinctive brand mark.
This particular piece is from the 'Brandon' range designed by V.B Wilkins who stated that these pieces of furniture had a look that could be placed in any room of the house and not look out of place.
After a full strip, sand and refinish the drawers are looking beautiful once more. No longer stained and faded the warm oak colour has been revived and balanced out. Although restored there are still some minor signs of wear commensurate with age and its former life.
Measures approximately 76.5cm wide, 45.5cm deep and 84.5cm tall.
All of our prices include VAT, please get in touch if you require a VAT receipt.
