In 1953, Donald Gomme, a designer at E Gomme, decided to produce a range of modern furniture for the entire house which could be bought piece by piece according to budgets. After WWll there was a huge demand for more modern furniture and none more popular than the G-Plan brand. Designs were available for several years so people could collect them slowly, with all furniture marked with the distinctive brand mark.
This particular piece is from the 'Brandon' range designed by V.B Wilkins who stated that these pieces of furniture had a look that could be placed in any room of the house and not look out of place.
The top of the cabinet has been stripped, sanded and refinished, ridding it of old stains and fading. The rest of the cabinet is in general good condition, and has been given a thorough clean and oil, conditioning the wood and making sure it looks it's very best once more. That being said there are still some light markings and dints here and there commensurate with age.
Measures approximately 37cm wide, 33cm deep and 55cm tall.
