Vintage E Gomme G Plan Brandon Nut Brown Oak Wardrobe

In 1953, Donald Gomme, a designer at E Gomme, decided to produce a range of modern furniture for the entire house which could be bought piece by piece according to budgets. After WWll there was a huge demand for more modern furniture and none more popular than the G-Plan brand. Designs were available for several years so people could collect them slowly, with all furniture marked with the distinctive brand mark.
This particular piece is from the 'Brandon' range, the first G-Plan range to appear in shops, and was designed by V.B Wilkins who stated that these pieces of furniture had a look that could be placed in any room of the house and not look out of place.
The Brandon range was made in seasoned oak and was available in two shades, light oak and nut-brown as shown here. The interior is lined in rich sapele mahogany and features a single hanging rail for maximum storage space.
In general good condition with wear commensurate with age and use, including some scratching, chips and dints here and there as photographed. We've given the wardrobe a thorough clean and oil inside and out, conditioning the wood and making sure it looks it's very best once more. The top is panelled and not solid as can be seen from the photographs.
Measures approximately 91.5cm wide, 175.5cm tall and 53.5cm deep.
