Yngve Ekström (1913-1988) was a Swedish furniture designer, wood carver, sculptor and architect. Along with Alvar Aalto, Arne Jacobsen and Poul Kjærholm, Ekström is considered an extremely important figure in the evolution of the Scandinavian Modernism movement.
Seemingly now quite rare this absolutely stunning Circle rocking chair is a fantastic example of mid 20th Century design.
The angled shape of the back rest, along with the moulded circular frame make it extremely comfortable to sit in, while the original red paintwork really makes it stand out.
In general good condition with visible wear to the paintwork that is commensurate with age and use. There is also a little split to one of the rockers, however this is not structural (please see photographs).
We have had the seat pad re-covered in original 1960s fabric in keeping with the original aesthetics of the chair.
Measures approximately 67cm wide, 74cm deep, 84cm tall with a seat height of 42cm.
All of our prices include VAT, please get it touch if you require a VAT receipt.
