












This lovely set of drawers is modest in design but bursting with charm and style. The uncomplicated, simple clean lines along with the inset handle detailing really make this piece a classic in mid century modern, minimalist design.
White and Newton of Portsmouth were on the cutting edge of furniture design and production in Britain throughout the mid 20th century. Under the design direction of Arthur Edwards, the firm produced stunning high end furniture often defined by its clean modern lines and stark linear form.
White and Newton furniture was a hit with trendsetters of the day and today alike, the timeless designs still remaining fashionable and contemporary 70 years on.
The top has been stripped, sanded and refinished, ridding it of stains and balancing up the colour once more. The rest of the wood has been oiled with a mixture that both cleans and nourishes the wood, ensuring it looks its best once more. There are still some minor signs of wear, including some scratches, marks and a small difference in colour half way down to one side, all as photographed.
