Robin Day is arguably one of Britain's most celebrated and most recognisable Mid Century designers.
A true pioneer of design, Robin Day overcame the difficulty of forming a single moulded plywood chair with adjoining armrests by innovatively bending one piece to perform the two functions. The result is a highly recognisable design that has truly stood the test of time, balancing innovative construction, comfort and support with a distinctive sculptural aesthetic.
We were told from the previous owner that it was purchased from Heals in the 1980s. The later reissues, like this one, have some minor differences to the original 1950s chairs produced by Hille, including different hardware and some slight variations to the measurements and sizing.
In general good condition with some minor wear commensurate with age and use, including some minor marks to the wood along with some marks to the leather upholstery.
Measures approximately 79.5cm tall, 62cm wide and 55cm deep with a 49cm seat height.
