This fantastic 1960s Econolite motion lamp is the perfect piece to add some fun into your home. Not only do these lamps light up a room, they also bring to life a beautiful, motion filled scene.
The Econolite Corporation started making motion lamps in 1946 and stopped in 1962. The first lamps produced were made from plastic and were limited to three designs: Fountain of Youth, Forest Fire, and Niagara Falls. It's unclear how many models of lamps were made and for that reason alone, collecting these whimsical lamps is always a nice surprise, with new designs constantly popping up.
This particular lamp features an underwater scene with revolving mermaids and sea creatures. It takes a little while for the lamp to start revolving, as it is the heat from the light bulb that enables this motion, therefore an LED bulb will not work unless you want the lamp to stay static.
In general good condition although not without visible wear and some damage as can be seen from the photographs. The light has been rewired with and approximately 270cm of braided nylon flex and takes a standard E27 lightbulb (non LED).
A fantastic piece of American lighting history that is sure to look great and spark conversations in any home.
Measures approximately 17cm in diameter and 26.5cm tall.
