Born in 1903 in Aarhus, Denmark, Andersen started his design career as an apprentice cabinetmaker before setting up his own architectural workshop in the mid 1930s.
Andersen’s designs span seating, tables, and storage in well-crafted sought after materials of their period, such as rosewood and teak. His career paralleled the mid 20th century’s growing appreciation for Danish furniture designs, and he attracted much international attention; particularly for coffee tables like the highly sculptural and now infamous 'Smile Table'.
Designing for his own company and for many other prestigious names, this particular chair was designed in the 1950s for Uldum Mobelfabrik.
In general good condition with some light wear commensurate with age and use.
Measures approximately 73cm tall, 50cm wide and 52cm deep, with a seat height of 44cm.
