Single Vintage Homemaker Ridgway Potteries Ltd. Side Plate

'Homemaker' was a range of mass-produced tableware that was extremely popular in the UK in the 1950s and 60s. Originally sold exclusively in Woolworth stores, the now iconic pattern was designed by Enid Seeney and manufactured by Ridgway Potteries of Stoke-on-Trent.

The first prototype was a single plate displayed on the Ridgway stand at the 1956 Blackpool trade fair where it attracted little interest. A prototype coffee set was then produced which was noticed by a buyer from Woolworths who placed an order for tea sets to be sold in five of its London stores. And the rest, as they say, is history. 

Being so widely produced, little of the pieces are classed as rare nowadays but have now became extremely collectable the world over. 

In great condition for its age with wear commensurate with age and use. 

Measures approximately 18cm in diameter and sits 1.5cm tall.
