Vintage 1970s IKEA DIANA Pine Safari Arm Chair with Upholstered Seats

1972 saw IKEA launch Karin Mobring’s DIANA, a pine framed safari chair. The DIANA armchair is one of designer Karin Mobring’s most prominent classics.

DIANA was an incredible success, and over the years IKEA launched several safari models – including the best seller CIKADA. But DIANA lasted the longest with 11 years in the IKEA catalogue.

A truly beautiful and simplistic chair that is the perfect item for any living space. Its linear lines and square shape are very typical of its Scandinavian origin, and an excellent example of classic IKEA design. 

The frame has been fully stripped, sanded and re-oiled, makng it look gorgeous once more. That being said it is not without minor wear commensurate with age. It had previously been stored in a barn for many years and had quite bad wood worm as a result. We've had the chair thoroughly treated and although still shows minor remnants of this, the chair is now clear of woodworm and safe to be re-homed. The chair has been re upholstered with a beige flax canvas fabric, very much like the original. The leather straps are original and show signs of wear and use.

Measures approximately 64cm wide, 63cm deep and 70cm tall with a low seat height of 37cm.
