This stunning early 20th Century wooden easel would be the perfect addition to any artists studio.
Not only functional but also a lovely decorative piece to display your favourite work of art around your home. Easels are also becoming more and more popular as a piece of furniture in many businesses as a way to display menus, or graphic marketing; the possibilities with these kinds of items are endless.
With a beautiful folding motion, this easel seamlessly pops to life when the two sides are pulled apart, a very satisfying motion.
Charles Allen Jones of Down Hatherley, Gloucestershire invented and produced the Hatherley patent easel along with a number of other items such as step ladders, bicycle stands and tables, all working to the same folding mechanism.
With obvious signs of wear, including, scuffs, marks, scratching and paint splashes. We think that the canvas support pegs have possibly been replaced over time, however they've been sympathetically made to match the style and colour of the rest of the easel. We're also a little bit unsure as to what the additional metal parts are.
Measures approximately 174cm, 79cm wide front leg to front leg, and 94cm deep. Each peg measures approximately 8cm long.
