Niels Gammelgaard is known for many iconic designs, including numerous timeless classics for IKEA. His work is characterised by simplicity, functionality, and an elegant blend of smart solutions and Scandinavian minimalism.
Niels Gammelgaard first met IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad in Denmark in 1975. Niels wanted IKEA to start selling his furniture, but instead Ingvar challenged him to design a new type of chair in steel and plastic. Niels accepted the challenge and two weeks later presented sketches for the FOLKE chair. This was the starting point of a collaboration that would last three decades and result in over 50 designs for IKEA.

The Niels Gammelgaard-designed clothing rack, or dress boy, was produced by IKEA and first appeared in the 1982 catalogue as part of a series of minimalist, postmodern metal furniture. The design is known for its functionalist style. It was made of tubular steel and was available in various colours including white, black, red, and yellow.
This multi functional piece of furniture would also be great as a towel rail or handy stand for a blanket next to a sofa. In general good condition with light wear and markings commensurate with age and use.
Measures approximately 100cm tall, 45cm wide, and 35cm deep.
