Vintage 1960s Sofa / Daybed by Greaves & Thomas

This absolutely beautiful sofa / day bed by Greaves & Thomas is the perfect item to add some Mid 20th Century sophistication into your living space. 

Able to easily fold down into a sofa bed this is a versatile item that will suit the needs of any room, great for visiting guests or simply just to lounge on. 

In the early 20th century Greaves & Thomas was known for designing contemporary, high-end British furniture from its London headquarters. Now, over a century later, the brand’s pieces are still targets for the discerning interior designer. 

Perhaps the most famous designer to work for Greaves & Thomas was Walter Cornell. He brought the rising Danish and Scandi influence to the brand; clean lines and functional presentation that were becoming popular in the mid-20th century. 

The afromosia frame has been fully stripped, glued, sanded and refinished, ridding it of loose joints, old stains and making it look like new once more. The steel frame, although not visible has also been resprayed. 

New fire compliant foam has been inserted and covered in a gorgeous neutral boucle fabric, a fabric widely used in the 1960s, in keeping with its original stylish era, yet still making it feel modern and fashionable today. 

This is a truly beautiful piece of furniture that will enhance any interior.

Measures approximately 203cm long arm to arm, with a seat length of 183cm, 78cm deep and 77cm tall with a seat height of 41cm. When folded flat the mattress measures approximately 183cm long and 112cm deep.
