This striking red and white boat shaped bowl is a beautiful example of the quality designs and craftsmanship from the Crown Devon company. The irregular shape, textured glaze and choice of colours are extremely typical of their 1950s era.
S. Fielding & Co. were manufacturers of quality earthenware founded in 1879. The trade name Crown Devon was introduced in the early 20th century and was initially associated with a decorative range of vellum-coloured fine earthenwares in the style of Royal Worcester.
Although product ranges and numbers from between 1900 and 1982 (when the company closed) were huge, the pieces remain highly collectable.
In general good condition with no chips or cracks just some slight defects to the red glaze around the rim.
Measures approximately 36cm long, 14cm wide and 6cm tall.
