Vintage Oil on Board Painting by Artist Audrey Harling (1920-1995).

Born in 1920 Audrey Harling was a Manchester based artist who used art as a form of therapy to help with her depression. She sold commercially and exhibited at The Stockport Art Gallery. Her work, often portraiture, featured bright layered colour in an expressionist style.

This particular piece, a study of a standing gorilla, is very typical of her style and is a great example of her beautiful work. Featuring her signature bright colours and lovely free, unrestrained detailing.

In general good condition, with wear commensurate with age. The handmade frame is rather crude in construction but in keeping with the style and era of the artwork itself.

Measures approximately 104cm tall, 78cm wide and 4cm deep.
