Vintage Hindu Religious Poster of Lord Ram, Lord Laxman and Shabri.

We recently acquired a box of oriental/religious ephemera and in it were several fantastic posters featuring all manner of gods, goddesses and deities.

Printed on newspaper type stock most likely in the 80s or maybe even earlier, these posters would have been used as a decoration in homes, shops, schools etc. where people have a small place to worship their gods.

This poster depicts Lord Ram and Lord Laxman, characters of ‘The Ramayan’ with the bottom image relating to a story of Shabri, a devotee of Lord Rama.

The blue text at the bottom translates to ‘Shabri ke ber’ which is a story of Shabri offering good berries to Lord Rama. Also printed at the bottom is ‘Anil Calendar Co, Outab Road Delhi’ and ‘Murari Fine Arts, 4 Daryaganj Delhi’.

With so much to look at and the bright, bold colours, each poster really stands out and is sure to be a welcome addition to any eclectic interior.

As with most items of this nature it features wear commensurate with age, including discolouring, small tears, creasing and marks.

Measuring approximately 51cm wide and 76.5cm tall, there is a little length of wooden beading on the back along with a hanging loop.
