Vintage Danish Teak PJ56 Easy Chair by Grete Jalk for Poul Jeppesen Møbelfabrik

This classic teak easy chair has become somewhat of a design icon. Designed by Grete Jalk, who is recognised as a hugely important Danish modernist designer, working at a time when women were somewhat of a rarity in the design world.

Jalk’s designs for P. Jeppesen’s workshop proved to be very popular and greatly helped Jalk in her career. The PJ56 easy chair as seen here was a unique chair when first produced and has many design elements which are noteworthy, including the rear posts that fit through the arms and the refined cigar shaped armrests. Although quite linear in design, the armrests and the carved top rail of the backrest give the chair an organic feel.

The chair came to us in quite a sad state, but after a full re-finish, new webbing, new cushions and upholstery in high quality 100% wool Moon fabric, we’re sure you’ll agree the chair is looking just as good as when it first came out of the factory.

A simple piece of furniture that is sure to make any modern interior look instantly more stylish.

Measures approximately 72cm wide, 78cm deep and 79cm tall with a low seat height of 38cm.
