This absolutely stunning Fishing Rod floor lamp by Sven Aage Holm Sørensen for Holm Sørensen is the perfect finishing touch for any interior.
Svend Aage Holm-Sørensen (1913-2004) was a Danish designer who is best known for his wide collection of light fixtures. A licensed ornamental metalworker, Holm-Sørensen started his design career in the 1950s, and many of his designs feature a metal surface with different ornaments and perforations. Besides lighting, Holm-Sørensen also designed furniture and small items.
The simplistic form is highly sculptural, a piece of art in its own right. Constructed from teak, brass and cast iron the clean lines, rich colours and materials really make this a show stopping piece.
In general good condition with light wear commensurate with age and use. The lamp has been rewired with approximately 296cm (from exit) of cream twisted nylon flex, along with a 3 pin UK plug and a new brass B22 lamp holder. Please note that this lamp will require a small golf ball size LED bulb to comfortably fit within the shade.
The pleated paper shade is new but very in keeping with the style and design. The drop of the shade can be adjusted to suit by feeding the cable in or out of the frame.
This is a wonderful opportunity to own an increasingly rare and collectable piece of Mid 20th Century lighting design.
