This beautiful media unit / sideboard by Dyrlund was designed circa 1960s and taps into the essence of Danish Modern with its clean lines, functional design and expert craftsmanship.
Dyrlund was founded in Hørning, Denmark in 1960 by by Niels and Jorgen Dyrlund. A Danish furniture manufacturer known for producing high-quality, handcrafted furniture using traditional woodworking techniques.
Dyrlund's designs are characterised by their simple shapes, and use of natural materials such as wood and leather. Their furniture is highly regarded for its exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail, winning numerous design awards over the years.
The sideboard features tambour doors that roll seamlessly into the back. A technique rarely used today, that is not only pleasing to the eye, but also functionally ideal as it minimises the space needed to access the inside of the cabinet. The interior is beautifully finished with adjustable shelves and drawers. The curved front edges are constructed in solid wood.
Originally it would have had metal wire dividers in the left hand section to house records, but unfortunately it came to us missing these. On the right hand side someone has cut a larger hole in the base for cables, this would have originally matched the left hand side.
Now fully stripped, sanded and refinished, the piece is looking absolutely beautiful once again, with the rich colour of the wood balanced and brought back to life. As with any restored piece there may still be some minor areas of light wear commensurate with age and use.
Nice and compact we're sure this gorgeous piece will look beautiful wherever it's placed.
Measures approximately 124cm long, 52cm deep and 66cm tall.
